Cloud marketplaces are a natural fit for scaling AI in the enterprise.
Buyers already have a budget, a contract and a billing relationship with their cloud. AI vendors plug into all three.
Every layer of the AI stack is now scaling this way.
From model to application
Models
Anthropic sold 47% of its 2025 revenue through Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud marketplaces, $2.16B Reuters reported. That share climbed from just 11% in 2023 to nearly half in 2 years.
At Mistral, Brooke Gleason, who led the strategic partner team, wrote:
"Our first hard fought Marketplace win was in the tens of millions and we built repeatable mechanisms for asymmetric growth in partner revenue."
Infrastructure
Pinecone moved early. In 2024, AWS ranked it among the top 4 SaaS ISVs on AWS Marketplace, with self-service subscription sales up 571% YoY by mid-year. It runs both motions: developers self-serve, while the sales team closes enterprise deals through co-sell and private offers.
Agent tooling
LangChain grew monthly co-sell deal registrations 2.7x in six months. It was a launch partner for AWS Marketplace's AI Agents & Tools category, and a 2026 Google Cloud Partner of the Year in Marketplace: Agent Platform.
Applications
Glean grew marketplace transaction value 42x YoY in FY25, with 6 of its 10 largest deals on Google Cloud Marketplace. It has since passed $300M in ARR.
Ada sold $2.5M on Azure Marketplace in nine months.
5 reasons AI fits the marketplace
1. Budget
Enterprises hold committed spend with their cloud. Google told Claude buyers they could "draw down on your Google Cloud spend commitments." AI gets funded from money already approved.
2. Metering
AI is often billed by usage. Anthropic's usage-based revenue hit $3.8B in 2025, versus $789M from subscriptions. Cloud billing was built for consumption.
3. Speed
"Acquiring DataRobot via the AWS marketplace, we were up and running within a day or two," said Razorpay.
AI proves its value in a pilot. A quarter-long procurement cycle stalls it.
4. Reach
AWS Marketplace took Kore.ai into regions where it had no direct sales presence. Anthropic says selling through the clouds delivers market penetration "at a scale we believe would be difficult for any single organization to directly replicate."
5. Collections
AWS Marketplace “reduced accounts receivable complexity and collection overhead” for Kore.ai. The bigger the vendor, the more it matters. Amazon and Google were responsible for collecting 60% of Anthropic’s outstanding customer bills at year-end 2025.
